The essay focuses on a Tumblr subculture from the late 2010s, which involved teenage girls interacting with, and obsessing over Nabokov's Lolita, and its titular character. Vincent writes, “The Lolita blogs de-mystify Nabokov's lost heroine, exposing the abuse and sexual mess of her experience through the performed infantilisation and fetishisation of their own bodies.”
