From his pioneering of dub techniques, to his ability to spot emerging talents, to his surrealistic word play, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry always walked his own path.

“You could never put your finger on Lee Perry – he’s the Salvador Dali of music.” – Keith Richards

Perry’s last recordings were for Bombart’s sound art project ‘The Missing Horrors’, broadcast on Radio Alhara for Halloween in 2021. Fusing dub reggae and spoken word with experimental electronics, co-ordinated by musical director Peter Harris and curator/writer Graham Duff.

“The wildest 60 minutes of music, singing, chanting and
spoken word you’re ever likely to hear!” – Louder Than War

Heaven’s Lathe are honoured to release this 12” album, which includes selections from ‘The Missing Horrors’ as well as other pieces created by Harris and Perry. The two men had collaborated over a number of years and these songs display the vitality of work.

Highlights include ‘Son of Satan’, wherein an ever spiralling bass line provides the setting for Perry to toast about both morality and his own mortality. Elsewhere, ‘House of Demons’ is a phat and funky banger, with Harris and Perry trading vocals amidst a storm of dub effects. Meanwhile, ‘God Save The Rhythm’ is a weird and wiry excursion, unlike anything else you’ve heard.

All the album’s tracks are presented in exclusive mixes by On-U Sound mastermind and long time Perry collaborator Adrian Sherwood. This is one very special release.
