"Sonny E. - A Cyberbilly Man in Japan" is a pocket-sized photobook by Nana Klimek Tinley documenting music artist Sonny E.’s travels and performances across Japan in late 2025.

The photographs were shot in colour on an early-2000s Casio Exilim pocket camera, capturing Sonny E's encounters with Japan’s distinctive Rockabilly culture and scenes surrounding his performances.

Sonny E. describes his music as “Cyberbilly” — a fusion of rockabilly and psychobilly with “the hypnotic, strange and robotic sounds of today and beyond.” The book’s title references his track Rockabilly Man, which itself draws on Japan and its rockabilly scene.

Seven scannable QR codes are integrated into the photographs, linking the images to Sonny E. compositions / visuals inspired by the trip, creating a connection between the photographs, music and journey.

Self-published, A Cyberbilly Man in Japan comprises 36 pages (incl. cover) and measures 10cm x 15cm / 3.94 x 5.91 inches pearlescent matte photo paper, approx. 350 g/m²

It is available from The Photographers’ Gallery and Dash the Henge Store, London.
