Phil Seamen

Phil Seamen Story

Regular price $33.00
Originally issued in 1972, the first side, recorded in 1966, is devoted to Seamen talking and playing drums and the narrative covers his beginnings in the music business and his time on the road in the last years of the big bands in this country up to his time with Jack Parnell in 1953. Side 2 features two sets recorded at the Hope & Anchor in Islington, London, (at Phil's Friday Place session) and the Bulls Head in Barnes London (with Dick Morrissey and the great US singer Jimmy Witherspoon, recorded in 1966).
The album was recorded and produced by Graham Lyons. When it sold out there were still a hundred or so albums left without sleeves (not uncommon when it was more expensive to produce the artwork). John Jack, then proprietor of Cadillac Distribution, had the stock on his shelves through the 1980s and 90s, but in the 2000s he decided to reprint the sleeve, and the booklet, marry them up with the existing record stock and make available a fantastic record of the troubled genius, Phil Seamen
