'Trails and Traces’ is Nye’s debut LP.

The music started life whilst Nye was completing his degree in Jazz in London. He graduated just a few months before the dreaded events of 2020, which saw him fleeing back home to the countryside in Leicestershire.

Here, a significant contrast to the last 4 years in South London, he reconnected with the area he'd grown up in, and the characters linked to it. It helped Nye reflect on the various trails we all go down in life, and the traces that are left on us by people, places and things that mean the world to us.

Returning to London, Nye then completed composing an album's worth of material, subsequently hitting Fish Factory Studios for 2 days with his sextet to record it.

Featuring ‘Banger Factory’ leader Mark Kavuma on trumpet, the record infuses flavours from 60s Blue Note records, 90s Radiohead, 20th century classical music and contemporary New York Jazz. The resulting sound is, dark, gripping and intensely expressive.
